Getting Started with Fantasy Basketball

Fantasy basketball is a game where you build and manage a virtual team of real NBA players. Your team earns points based on the actual statistical performance of your players in real NBA games.

Join a League

Choose from various league formats:

  • Season-Long Leagues: Compete over the entire NBA season
  • Daily Fantasy: Single-day competitions with quick results
  • Private Leagues: Create or join leagues with friends
  • Public Leagues: Compete against other Reason Win users
Tip: Beginners might want to start with free public leagues to learn the ropes before joining competitive ones.
3

Draft Your Team

Build your roster by selecting real NBA players within your salary cap. A standard roster includes:

  • 1 Point Guard (PG)
  • 1 Shooting Guard (SG)
  • 1 Small Forward (SF)
  • 1 Power Forward (PF)
  • 1 Center (C)
  • 3 Utility Players (any position)
Tip: Balance your selections between high-scoring stars and consistent role players to maximize your points potential.
4

Manage Your Team

Once your team is drafted, you’ll need to manage it throughout the competition:

  • Set Your Lineup: Decide which players to start based on upcoming games
  • Make Trades: Exchange players with other team managers
  • Add/Drop Players: Adjust your roster using the free agent pool
  • Monitor Injuries: Keep track of player health and make necessary adjustments
Tip: Check player matchups regularly—a star player facing a weak defensive team might outperform their average.

Score Points & Win

As your players compete in real NBA games, they’ll earn fantasy points based on their statistical performance. The team with the most points at the end of the competition period wins!

Advanced Strategy Tips

Research is Key

Stay updated on player news, injury reports, and matchup analysis to make informed decisions about your lineup.

Consider the Schedule

Teams play different numbers of games each week. A good player with 4 games might outperform a star with only 2 games.

Focus on Categories

In category-based leagues, you might want to dominate specific stats rather than trying to be good at everything.

Be Active on Waivers

Regularly check the waiver wire for emerging players who might be available to add to your team.
